Do your tax return with Peterpans

TO COMPLETE AN AUSTRALIAN TAX RETURN YOU WILL NEED:

  • Your payment summary (Group Certificate) and/or final pay slips 
  • Your Tax File Number (To apply for a TFN go to www.ato.gov.au)
  • Your passport (we need to copy it)
  • All employer details- ABN or ACN, address, phone numbers, start and finish dates (these should all be listed on your Group Certificate or final payslip)
  • Your bank details (Australian OR international) International Accounts MUST HAVE an IBAN or SWIFT CODE number. Please make sure all bank details are correct at the time of submission. Incorrect bank details delay the process of getting your refund in your account. 
  • any work related receipts you have kept for claiming back (things you can claim back RSA and any courses, sunscreen & hat if you have been working on a farm, work boots). The Australian Tax office allows $300 worth of unreceipted items to be claimed each year so if you dont have receipts please make a note on your return so it can be claimed  

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE MY RETURN?

At the current time it can take up to 6 weeks to get your tax refund back. Early assessments are up to 8 weeks as they need to be lodged manually. If you do not receive it in this time you can contact tax@peterpans.com for more information.

* Please note, once your return has been lodged with the Australian Tax Office  it is then out of Peterpans hands and with the Australian Tax Office for payment processing. We cannot access it due to Australian privacy laws, nor can we speed up the process of funds being available to you. If you would like to contact the ATO regarding your return you can call them on 13 72 26 and remember to quote your Tax File Number.
 

WHAT ARE THE FEES?

If you are lodging your tax return through Peterpans we use a tax agent who will charge you the following fees:

  • Claiming up to $1500 return will incur $150+GST flat fee
  • Anything over $1500 will incur a $200 +GST flat fee.
  • Depositing a return to an international account will also incur an additional $30 bank charges and can take 3-5 working days to appear in your account.  

WHAT IS A PAYMENT SUMMARY/GROUP CERTIFICATE?

This SHOULD be issued to you at the end of the financial year which is the 30th of June. You will need to seek this summary by contacting the employer/s directly.

WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE A PAYMENT SUMMARY?

It is the law for all employers to issue Group Certificates & Payment summaries on the 1st July every year. Please make your address or email address known to your employer so they can send it to you. Alternatively you can submit your FINAL pay slips where is stated the amount you have been paid YTD. It is therefore in your best interest to be able to provide your PAYMENT SUMMARY.

WHY DONT YOU GIVE ME AN ESTIMATED QUOTE?

Peterpans Tax is all about the backpacker and we want you to get the most amount back as possible. If we give you an estimated quote then legally we only have to deposit that amount in your account. So if we quote you a return of $2500 but really you get $3500 then legally we only have to deposit $2500 in to your nominated account. 

HOW DO I GET MY SUPERANNUATION BACK???

WILL I RECEIVE A RECEIPT?

Yes, You will be issued a receipt for your return which will outline your payments and fees.
